Chapter 372:
Avery paused briefly before her face lit up. “Of course!”
Swiftly abandoning her kitchen tasks, Avery located a thermal container, washed it, and began packing the food.
Seeing that Kristopher and Cathy seemed to be leaving together, Avery asked softly while filling the container,
“Should | pack for one person or two?”
Kristopher hesitated for a moment before responding. “For two, please.” He knew Belinda must be famished
after a busy day.
When Kristopher answered in his deep voice, Cathy bit her lip nervously, staring at his sharply defined face as
she felt her heart sink. She knew the other portion of dinner Kristopher requested wasn’t meant for her. He
intended to bring dinner to that bitch, Belinda!
“Done.”
Avery swiftly completed packing the dinner. As she presented the thermal container with a bright smile, she
handed it to Kristopher. “Mr. Cox, are you taking Miss Miller out, so much so that you're missing dinner with us?”
“It's not a date,” Cathy quickly clarified. “Kristopher has urgent matters to handle and can’t join Mom andfor
dinner.”
Before Kristopher had a chance to speak, Cathy gracefully accepted the thermal container from Avery. “I'll carry
this. Kristopher has more pressing tasks at hand.”

Cathy’s acting skills were on full display. She struck the perfect tone, making herself appear especially
aggrieved.
Unaware of her pretense, Kristopher believed her distress was genuine and spoke softly, “Cathy, it wasn't my
intention to miss dinner with you. The suburbs can be quite perilous at night. We would both bear responsibility if
anything were to happen to Belinda.”
Cathy, feigning magnanimity, sniffled and lifted her head to offer Kristopher a reluctant smile. “That's alright,
Kristopher. Miss Nelson is your ex-wife, after all. Your concern for her is understandable. It’s just...” She bit her lip
and clung to Kristopher’s arm. “Perhaps I'm to bltoo. If | had persuaded Miss Nelson to stay, you wouldn't be
so worried now. Maybe you could lethelp by accompanying you to look for her?”

After a moment of hesitation, Kristopher nodded and reached out to hold Cathy's hand. “Okay.”
Belinda had left Eden View on foot not long before. Given the timing, she couldn't have ventured far. Yet, after
driving three or four miles with Cathy, there was still no trace of Belinda on the road.
“Perhaps Miss Nelson called a friend to pick her up?” Cathy suggested, peering into the night's darkness. “She
surely couldn’t have traveled this far by herself.”
