Chapter 378:
While she mulled over these questions, her phone vibrated in her pocket. An unfamiliar number was calling.
Belinda frowned and answered, “Hello?”
“Belinda, where are you?” It was Gillian on the line, her voice full of distress. “Dad toldhe had informed you |
was coming back, and you were supposed to pickup at the airport...”
Belinda paused, suddenly remembering that Donovan had indeed called her about this while she was in the
hospital after being assaulted.
However, she distinctly remembered telling Donovan that she would not be picking Gillian up from the airport.
Furthermore, she had made it clear that she wanted nothing to do with Gillian. It appeared that Donovan hadn't
relayed Belinda’s message to her sister, who was not related by blood.
Noticing Belinda’s silence, Gillian retorted sharply from the other end, “Belinda, this is too much. You didn’t show
up to pickup at the airport, and you haven't been in touch for ages. Are you scared I'll steal Kristopher away,
so you're avoiding me?”
Hearing Gillian’s misguided accusations, Belinda laughed coldly. “Gillian, I've made it clear to Dad that we have
no emotional ties, and we're not sisters. You didn’t cto Nawrin to see me. Since you're here for Kristopher,
you should be calling him, not me.” With that, Belinda didn’t wait for a response and ended the call.
Before, Belinda had felt a duty to tolerate Gillian because Donovan had raised her. And though they weren't
blood-related, Belinda had treated her like a sister. She once believed that they could eventually beca

screw the family. She had no tto spend on people who didn’t consider her family.
“Belinda, you've really changed,” Madisyn said as she saw Belinda hang up, giving her a thumbs-up. “You never
used to be like this with your sister.”
Belinda raised an eyebrow and said with a smile, “I was naive before.” Madisyn offered another thumbs-up.
“But Belinda, | thought you'd have your sister help bail us out,” Madisyn continued. As Madisyn spoke, she
glanced at Fred, who was still busily tapping away on his phone. “How are we going to get out of here tonight?”

Belinda frowned, paused to think, then took out her phone. “I'll call Kristopher.” Since Kristopher had landed
them in the police station this late at night, he wasn’t going to have a peaceful night either.
“Kristopher?”
Madisyn’s eyes widened in disbelief as she turned to Belinda. “I just said you seemed different, but now
you're...”
