Chapter 379:
She glanced up and inadvertently looked at Fred. “Did you answer my phone?”
Hearing the question, Fred, who had been fretting about which classmate to contact for bail, put down the phone
and raised his head. “Yes, it was Mr. Cox who called. | inquired about his intentions regarding you, but he
remained silent and abruptly ended the call. | was going to tell you to call him back after your shower, but then
Madisyn askedto get playing cards downstairs, and it slipped my mind,” Fred explained, looking
apologetically at Belinda. “Did Mr. Cox get mad at you?”
Belinda rubbed her temples, feeling the tension build. “I understand why we were reported.” So it was Kristopher
who had made the call.
He must have believed it was just her and Fred in that cramped hostel, suspecting something untoward could
happen between them tonight, which prompted him to call the cops.
With this realization, Belinda couldn't help but let out a bitter laugh. Kristopher’s mind was as poisonous as a
snake’s bite. Luckily, she had been with Madisyn tonight when they went to see Fred. If there had been any
romantic involvement between her and Fred, tonight would have been a disaster of epic proportions!
With this in mind, she scoffed, turned on her heel, grabbed her phone, and stormed into the hallway to call
Kristopher.
When his phone buzzed, Kristopher was just merging onto the main road in the city center from the suburbs.
Glancing at the screen, he pulled over and answered with a frown, “Hello?”
“Mr. Cox.” Her tone was icy, a smirk playing at the edges of her voice. “You must be quite disappointed, right?”

had already briefed him. In the hostel room, three people were taken away. Two women and a man. Aside from
Belinda and Fred, there was also Madisyn.
When Kristopher learned that Madisyn was present, he exhaled a sigh of relief, his taut nerves finally relaxing.
No matter how reckless they were, they wouldn't drag Madisyn into their mess.

“Disappointed that | wasn’t hauled off by the police as a prostitute, right?” Her voice dripped with sarcasm over
the phone. “Kristopher, we were once married. Even though we're divorced now, we haven't becmortal
enemies, have we? Why stoop to such petty tactics as reporting...”
Kristopher settled comfortably into the leather seat of the car and asked with a hint of amusement, “How do you
know it was me?”
“You called me, and Fred picked up. Who else could it be but you?” Belinda’s frown deepened as she heard the
light tone in Kristopher’s voice on the other end. Her grip on the phone tightened, turning her fingertips pale.
“Kristopher, do you realize how despicable that makes you?”
Even if there was something going on between her and Fred, they were free to see each other. How could
Kristopher report them, making them look like they were having a sexual transaction? Fred was still in college. If
word got out that he was arrested under such allegations, his reputation would be destroyed.
