Chapter 388:
The revelation that the sister Joyce had spoken of, the one who had abused her, was actually Cathy, caught
Belinda completely off guard.
If Cathy was indeed Joyce's sister, it would explain why Joyce's phone had ended up in Cathy’s hands. Given
Cathy's history of deceit and manipulation, it made sense that she would be involved.
“Belinda...”
Fred's voice snapped her out of her thoughts. He pursed his lips and asked, “Is your friend related to Cathy?”
Belinda glanced back at the photo, her eyes hardening. “No, she isn’t. Cathy doesn’t deserve to be related to
her.”
Fred fell into a thoughtful silence, then nodded in agreement. “You're right. You're too kind, Belinda. Someone
like your friend couldn't possibly be related to someone as ruthless as Cathy.”
“Yes,” Belinda replied, her lips pressed into a thin line.
Deep down, she desperately wished that the photo had been fabricated and that there was no connection
between Cathy and Joyce.
Belinda understood all too well the lengths Cathy would go to, especially given her past actions towards Belinda,
even after their divorce.
It was hard for Belinda to reconcile with the life Joyce had lived before.
“Belinda,”
Fred's voice interrupted her thoughts, and he frowned, asking, “Did your friend really take her own life due to

Though Fred wasn’t fond of Cathy, he had cacross her interviews and other information online. He had even
watched sof them.
In one interview, Cathy tearfully spoke about her sister's suicide, attributing it to depression and advocating for
mental health awareness.

Fred found Cathy's portrayal hypocritical and had criticized her for it. He knew that Cathy had a sister who had
struggled with depression.
“No, she’s alive.”
Belinda lifted her head and stared at the photo on the screen again, her mind racing. “She wasn’t depressed.
Four years ago, she fell from a building... it was an accident.”
That day, Madisyn had cto Belinda in tears. Together, they searched the city, eventually finding Joyce in a
limousine on her way to the airport.
Joyce was with her uncle, who declared his intention to take her abroad and sever all ties with them.
Joyce was hooked up to tubes, appearing lifeless, but still clinging to life.
Belinda’s brow furrowed deeply as she reflected on the events.
