Chapter 40

lan had killer bone structure, a great physique, and a face that could make anyone famous. There was no doubt

he was going to blow up.

lan curved his lips in a faint smirk and kept walking toward the dressing room.

The makeup talent let out a relieved breath when she saw him cback. When he’d suddenly walked out just

now, she'd thought he wasn’t happy with the styling.

The shoot was set indoors, with a black chair giving off a classic vibe. lan’s chiseled features were so striking

that he barely needed any makeup. He was already camera-ready.

The photographer was about to give him spointers, but seeing how naturally lan worked the camera, he just

relaxed. “Alright, turn your body a bit. Lighting, bring up the left side. Let's get sshadow on half his face.

Yeah, that's it.”

The photographer added, “Mr. Foster, over here! Make your gaze a bit more alluring

Yolanda stood off to the side with the crew, wearing a hat and a mask, but even so, her figure was hard to miss.

She watched lan shine in front of the camera, a trace of satisfaction flickering in her eyes.

The photographer kept showering lan with compliments, even stepping in during the break to fix lan’s hair.

One of the crew members leaned over to Yolanda and whispered, ‘T’ve never seen the photographer this hyped.

There was this up-and-coming actor before who was so stiff in front of the camera. It took us a whole day just to

get his eyes right.”

Yolanda hummed in agreement, catching a glimpse of lan leaning back. His Adam's apple stood out; the top light

cast his chin’s shadow across his exposed collarbone. His eyes smoldered at the camera, toeing the line between

inviting and aloof

His legs were so long; he looked like he didn’t even know where to put them.

Excitement colored the photographer's cheeks, “Don’t move! Yes, just like that.” He fired off a dozen shots,

stepped up to smooth out the black shawl on the chair, and then cback for more.

Yolanda had expected lan to be a little nervous about his first big endorsement, but he handled it like a pro.

When it was over, the photographer and crew crowded around lan. “Mr. Foster, thanks for your hard work. Your

camera presence is insane, and your looks are just unreal.”

lan lowered his lashes, nodded, and gave a quick bow of thanks before heading over to Yolanda.

Yolanda ordered coffee for the photographer and the crew before telling lan to head to the car first. She had

sthings to discuss with the production manager.

As lan walked out of Starlight Entertainment, he accidentally bumped into a woman dressed to the nines. He

quickly stepped aside. “Sorry about that,” he said.

May's eyes landed on his face, and after a few seconds, her face contorted with rage. She hurried back to her

car, fixing a venomous stare on lan’s face as he walked away.

May seethed, thinking. He's that bitch’s kid. Damn it. Why is he still alive? Her hands gripped the steering wheel

hard. She was itching to slam the gas and ram right into fan’s car.

May saw that after a woman in a hat and a mask got into lan’s car, Tan finally drove away.

May didn’t go after them. All her usual elegance and composure had vanished. She made a call, practically

snarling through gritted teeth.

“Dig up everything on that bitch’s kid. Didn't we already get him expelled? Why the hell is he still in Beloris? Find

out who helped him back then. | want him dead, and | want his ndragged through the mud. Make sure he’s

finished.”

Meanwhile, as Yolanda drove off, she glanced in the rearview mirror. She had a nagging feeling that the luxury

car parked nearby looked familiar, but now that it was farther away, she couldn't make out the license plate.

Things were quiet in the car, so she broke the silence. “Tired? Get srest tonight, okay? We'll head back to

the set in the morning.”

lan, sitting in the passenger seat, gave a soft reply and clasped his hands together. “Y-Yolanda, I'm hungry.”

Yolanda kept her face calm. “Just callMs. Grant from now on, alright?”

He turned to look at her profile, his lips pressing into a thin line.

Yolanda felt her palms grow damp with sweat. She could feel his wounded gaze on her, but she made herself

look away.

When the car stopped outside his place, she still didn’t turn to look at him. “Go on, head inside, and have

something to eat-maybe sbread. I'll have a driver pick you up in the morning.”

But he just sat there, not making a move to open the door.

“lan,” she called softly.

He lowered his lashes, his voice soft and a little distant. “Did | make things difficult for you?”

“No, I-Yolanda began, her words faltering.

But before she could finish, lan suddenly leaned over and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

Her voice caught, and she stared at him in disbelief.

He pulled back quickly, turning his gaze out the window. “I want to call you Yolanda. Could I?"

Yolanda took a deep breath, her eyes steeling. “Get out. If you ever pull that again, I'll have Megan take care of

you instead. From now on, I'll only deal with your scripts.”

lan’s throat tightened. He lifted his hand and opened the door. As he closed it, he whispered, “Sorry”

Yolanda sped oft, and only when she'd put sdistance between herself and lan did she finally pull over,

pressing a hand to her forehead.

She'd never had to deal with anything like this before. Her heart was pounding. Panic clawed at her chest, like

she was about to step outside the lines her family had drawn for her. She leaned back, realizing her back was

already damp with sweat.

Betraying Charles would be a disaster. All she wanted was to stack up sleverage, so when the divorce came,

she wouldn't end up totally screwed.

Anything beyond that, she didn’t dare let herself think about it. Charles might not have any lines he wouldn't

cross, but she had to draw her own somewhere.
