Chapter 814

"Blind date?"

The idea that she would actually go on a blind date was baffling to Silas. Did this mean she was willing to be with

anyone but him? His expression turned visibly sour as Margot, with her innocent little face, nodded

enthusiastically.

"Yup, a blind date! Uncle Manley said Ms. Marguerite moved out on her own recently, probably because she

needed a change. She's been single for over six months and hadn't thought about marriage before. But out of

the blue, she announced yesterday that she's going on a blind date. It really ticked off Uncle Hayes!" the little

one explained, glancing at the digital watch on her wrist.

"Right about now, Ms. Marguerite should be at the MOCODO Steakhouse. And guess what? She's lined up a few

dates for today!"

She decided to start dating just yesterday?

But they had just met yesterday, and she had been crystal clear that there was no chance she'd ever love

anyone but her late husband. Her resolute stance seemed as if she was resigned to a life of solitude.

And yet, not even a day later, she was off to meet new people?

Could it be that something he said yesterday triggered this sudden decision?

Oddly, the thought made Silas feel a bit pleased. If she was acting like nothing had happened, he might have

thought she was truly indifferent. But if she was trying this hard to move on, perhaps she wasn't as unaffected as

she seemed.

Margot reached over and tapped her dad's shoulder, her eyes wide with curiosity. "Dad, do you get to meet lots

of handsguys on blind dates? | wanna go too! | wanna go on a blind date!"

Silas found himself thinking of Marguerite and her determined expression from yesterday. He hesitated, then

gently ruffled his daughter's hair, his gaze softening with a mix of amusement and resignation.

"Sweetheart, there's nothing fun about blind dates. Trust me, it's not for you." Meanwhile, at MOCODO

Steakhouse, Marguerite was right on time. After ordering two steaks, she sat sipping her lemon water, waiting

for her date to arrive.

She had downed five glasses and made a couple of trips to the restroom by the ther date finally showed up.

The man was thin, wearing an ill-fitting black suit, and sporting a shiny bald head. Without even a proper

greeting, he blurted out, "You're Marguerite, right? Let's hit another spot. Steak givesthe runs. There's a pub

down the street with great grilled squid. Con, my treat."

He spoke so rapidly he practically sprayed her with his words. It took Marguerite a moment to recover from the

surprise. "I've already ordered," she replied, trying to maintain her composure.

The man frowned. "Why would you order before | got here? You could've at least letknow! Honestly!"

Marguerite raised an eyebrow. "How exactly was | supposed to do that?"

They didn't even have each other's number; all communication had gone through the matchmaker. Besides, she

had mentioned the location yesterday. If he had any objections, he should have voiced them then.

Keeping her expression neutral, she countered, "Is it really unreasonable to order in a restaurant when I'm

hungry?"
