Chapter 552
"Alright, Mr. Rothman. Please follow me."
Lawrence quickly arranged a private exam room equipped with surveillance cameras for Yolanda. Both Colin and
Lawrence personally served as proctors.
20 minutes later, the test papers were delivered by Charles, who had been handling the situation earlier.
Under their watchful eyes, Yolanda began answering the questions.
As soon as she started writing, Colin nodded in approval. A trace of admiration flickered in his expression.
Most students would have been a nervous wreck in this situation-taking an exam alone, under the supervision of
the education department's director and a teacher. But Yolanda's composure was remarkable. She wasn't
flustered at all.
Additionally, her writing speed was astonishing. She barely glanced at the questions before diving straight into
her answers.
Colin was well aware of the difficulty of this physics competition. Physics happened to be his specialty, too-
before becoming the director of the education department, he had taught physics for over a decade. Curious, he
stepped closer to Yolanda to take a look at her paper.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHe scanned a few lines and couldn't help but suck in a sharp breath.
Out of 20 multiple-choice questions, she hadn't missed a single one.
Considering her age, her level of understanding seemed almost unbelievable.
As he continued to watch, Yolanda quickly moved on to the fill-in-the-blank section, which she also completed
flawlessly.
The more Colin observed, the more astonished he became. He hadn't expected a small city like Riverdale to
produce such talent.
Suppressing his excitement, he returned to his seat at the front of the room. Meanwhile, Lawrence was a little
puzzled when he saw Colin's animated expression. He also stood up. Then, he pretended to stroll around
Yolanda's desk casually.
Since he didn't understand physics, he could only see that she was answering quickly. Not comprehending the
brilliance in her responses, he quietly returned to his seat, slightly embarrassed.
An hour later, Yolanda put down her pen, signaling that she was finished. Without bothering to check her
answers, she packed up her stationery and prepared to hand in her paper.
Even though she had started 30 minutes late, she submitted her test 30 minutes before the scheduled end time.
"Are you sure you want to turn it in now? Would you like to double-check your answers?"
This was a major state-level competition. Even the most confident prodigies usually spent treviewing their
work before turning it in.
"I'm good," Yolanda replied calmly. She was putting her things into her bag. "Am I free to leave now?"
"Yolanda, hold on a second."
Colin gestured for Lawrence to seal her test paper before he walked over to her.
"| just took a look at your exam paper and think you're incredibly talented. | was wondering if you'd be interested
in pursuing further studies in the Physics Department at Creybia University in the future."
Hearing this, Lawrence froze in the middle of sealing the test paper. Glancing at Yolanda's answers again, he felt
increasingly baffled.
"Was this girl really so brilliant that Mr. Rothman was personally recruiting her?"
Either way, Colin's notice guaranteed her a spot in Creybia University's early admissions program. Talk about a
stroke of luck.
As Lawrence marveled at her fortune, he heard Yolanda's unexpected reply.
"I've already decided on a different major. Physics isn't in my plans right now." "What? She turned down an early
admission offer?" Lawrence thought, feeling his worldview crumble. Creybia University was the most prestigious
school in the country, with fierce competition for its highly coveted early admission spots.
Every three years, millions of students vied for these rare opportunities. It was a once-in-a-lifetshot-like
crossing a narrow bridge with thousands of others behind you.
And yet, Yolanda just rejected it outright.
Lawrence observed her carefully, trying to figure out if she truly didn't care about the opportunity or if she was
just putting on an act.
Colin was just as shocked. He rarely used his authority to approve early admissions, but Yolanda's talent had
convinced him to make an exception. He never expected her to turn him down.
"Yolanda, what major are you planning to pursue?"
With her talent in physics, he had naturally assumed she'd want to continue down that path.
