Chapter 0969 While Laura was out with the girls looking at Serenity's wedding dress, Paul and Maurice had agreed to take care of Adele. Laura had hesitated for a moment, but since they had watched her before without any problems, this twas no different.
As Laura left, Paul and Maurice decided to go to the mall, Paul-who had always been the shy, quiet type-had recently made an interesting discovery. Every the went out with his little brother and Adele, girls would turn to look at him. He had no idea why, but it happened every time.
And today was no exception.
Paul held Maurice's hand while pushing Adele's stroller with the other. The little girl, for her part, enjoyed these random outings. Everything was going smoothly-until, by accident, they bumped into a couple.
The man they had just run into couldn't take his eyes off them-more specifically, off Adele.
What Paul and Maurice didn't know was that the man in front of them was none other than Adrian Brown, Laura's ex-boyfriend and Adele's father.
"Stupid kids! Watch where you're going!" the woman with Adrian snapped.

"What did you just say, you little brat?!" the woman fumed But Adrian wasn't paying attention.
His eyes were locked on Adele-her features, so strangely familiar. He barely registered the argument happening between Paul and his companion.
"Alice, would you shut up for a second?" Adrian finally said stepping closer to the stroller.
"Wait a minute... Are you the Palmer brothers?" Adrian asked, trying to confirm his suspicion.
"We're Evans now. We're not Palmer anymore," Paul replied instinctively, pulling the stroller closer to him. Who are you, and how do you know our last name?" 11 Adrian immediately understood-his suspicion was right.
As far as he knew, Lucius wasn't in the country, which meant the only possible mother of this little girl was Laura. And when Adele smiled at him, something in him shifted. He couldn't explain the feeling, but there was only one reason for it: This child had to be his daughter.
"Are you Laura's brother? And is this her daughter?" Adrian asked as casually as he could.
"Who are you? Why are you asking?" Paul questioned, growing suspicious of the man's insistence.
"I'm an old friend of Laura's. I haven't seen her in a long time," Adrian replied, but deep down, he was already certain this was his daughter.
"My dad told us not to talk to strangers..." Maurice said quietly. "Besides, the bodyguard already found us. Look, he's right there," he added, nodding toward a man standing nearby.
"Let's go," Paul muttered, pulling the stroller away and walking off with his brother.
Adrian stood frozen, watching them leave.
1/2 So that was it.
The baby Laura had once told him about-the child who had haunted him ever since she disappeared-wasn't a boy.
She was a girl.

Adrian had done many things to regain his family's trust. His father, Amadeus Brown, had ultimately forced him into marriage with Alice George, a woman who was nothing like Laura. She lacked the quiet warmth that had once made Laura so special to him.
Alice, who had been watching the exchange with irritation, finally spoke up.
"Who were those brats, Adrian? You looked like you knew them pretty well. And another thing-don't you ever talk to alk tolike that in public again! You understand? Your place in this marriage is to be a loving and devoted husband. And if you can't do that, maybe we should have a little chat with your father."
"Alice, would you please shut up for a moment? I already know my colen - donaiavisnovw here you don't have to remindevery five seconds." "Good. At least you understand your place. Now, tell me-who were those hideous little brats?" "Why should I?" "Because I'm your wife, and you're supposed to respect me." "Alice, they're children. What the hell do you think I would do with a bunch of kids?"
"I don't know, Adrian! But you looked way too interested in them-especially that little brat," Alice sneered in disgust. And just so we're clear-don't get any stupid ideas about kids. I am not getting pregnant.
I am not ruining my figure just to bring a bunch of useless little parasites into this world." Adrian rolled his eyes and clenched his jaw, forcing himself to stay calm.
The brat she was referring to... was his daughter.
For now, it was best to stay quiet-to not say anything that would raise suspicion.
