Chapter 863
"Fine, go ahead and eat it," Sarah said, turning away.
The table in front of her was lined with gingerbread cookies. She randomly grabbed a few and tossed them onto
her plate, along with a couple of pastries.
But Zachary circled around and stepped in front of her again, locking eyes with her.
"Watcheat it."
Sarah fought the urge to throw the plate in his face. She clenched her teeth. "What are you, five? You need
someone to watch you eat an apple?"
How had she never realized he was this childish before?
His lips glistened with apple juice, and she instinctively swallowed. "I've got work to do."
"Is it really so hard," he said, "to just say you want to kiss me?"
Her eyes widened. "Who wants to kiss you, pervert?!"
Her voice shot up in volume, drawing a few stares. She immediately lowered her voice again. "Narcissist."
She had no idea how to deal with him anymore. Just then, Melvin appeared, and she quickly walked over, hoping
he'd drive Zachary away-he'd always hated the guy.
But to her surprise, Melvin didn't say a word about it. Instead, he got straight to business.

don't want a single thing going wrong."
Zachary nodded, still munching his apple. "Did you read the proposal | had delivered? I'm backing you this time,
but that won't be enough. If you want to win those old-timers over, you'll need more than just my name."
"Don't worry. Don't underestimate the Sanders-or me," Melvin said confidently.
Crunch.
Melvin frowned. "Must you really eat an apple while we're discussing business? You look ridiculous. Aren't you
worried a photo of you like that will end up online?"
Zachary shrugged, totally unfazed. "What can | say? Sasa gave it to me."
Melvin turned to glare at Sarah. "Didn't giveone."
"Seriously?" Sarah stared at him, incredulous. "We're talking about that now?"
Zachary gestured to the table. "She just grabbed one from over there and handed it to me."
Melvin nodded, satisfied. "Alright. | feel better now."
Sarah, however, looked annoyed. "You knew that and still ate it anyway?"
"Couldn't help it. You handed it to me." Zachary grinned at her.
Sarah shivered. God, those pickup lines Steven wrote for him-did any of them not sound like something from a
sleazy ?
"Cousin, you've changed. You used to want to strangle him the second you saw him Now you're chatting, like old
friends," she said, squinting suspiciously at both of them. s
Melvin chuckled. "We have a common goal now. Once it's done, I'll strangle him then."
"Just remember to be merciful when the tcomes," Zachary added playfully. "Right now, we're fighting the
senemy."
Back and forth they went, leaving Sarah completely confused. She had no idea what they were plotting and at
this point, she didn't even want to know. s
Suddenly, all the lights in the hall went out.
Even the large LED screen went dark.
A few people screamed.
Sarah glanced quickly at Melvin. He looked just as confused as she was. She was about to go find the
manager when she saw Melvin already striding off. fo s
Mia's face turned pale with fear. She had wandered too far from Sarah in search
of food, and the only person near her now was Lucas Lansworth.
Her hands were trembling so badly she almost dropped her wine glass. Without thinking, she gripped the edge of
Lucas's jacket.
"Are you alright?" he asked gently.
"The... the power went out," Mia stammered. “I'm scared of the dark.”
