Chapter 866
Dozens of miles away, on Harbour Crescent Island, Vivian sat seething in front of her screen. She had watched
the entire scene unfold live.
What was supposed to be a flawless plan had crumbled-all because of one tiny birthmark.
Those reporters had already held a favorable view of Sarah. Their earlier
questions had simply been part of their job. But now that they knew the video was fake, of course they'd rush to
clear her name.
Vivian was so furious she nearly smashed her phone. But as she picked it up again, something caught her eye-a
glimpse of someone familiar on-screen.
James Chancer.
Back at the venue, the party had returned to normal. Mia looked around in confusion. "Where's Lucas? Has
anyone seen him?"
"He was already gone when the power cback," Zachary said, scanning the room with caution.
"There!" Scarlett pointed toward the entrance.
Everyone turned. Lucas was walking in again, still bundled up in his usual layers. "Where did you go just now?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtMia asked. "You just disappeared."
Lucas didn't answer her. Instead, he turned to Sarah, his tone serious. "When the lights cback on, | saw
someone sneaking out from backstage. | followed them."
"Where is that person now?" someone asked.
"I knocked them out and tied them to a tree outside," Lucas replied.
Zachary glanced at Steven. The latter immediately caught on. "Mr. Lansworth, could you takethere?"
Lucas nodded to Mia, then led Steven out.
Not far away, James sat on a couch, eyes locked on Sarah under the camera flashes. His gaze burned with
intensity. He took a sip of wine, subtly shifting to block the woman beside him who was trying to start a
conversation.
Back at the entrance to the resort, Charlotte had already torn up the only invitation she had. James had been so
furious with her that he hadn't even looked back.
It wasn't until he was driving away that he suddenly realized how Charlotte had known exactly where, to find
him, Glancing at the phone on the passenger seat, it hit him this crazy woman must've tracked his location. s
Of course she would.
She'd do anything to control him.
The thought made his stomach turn. He powered off his phone and threw it into the backseat.
At a street corner, he noticed someone discreetly selling invitation cards. Slamming the brakes, he paid an
absurd price for one just to get inside the resort.
He had been watching Zachary and
Sarah's every move ever since. When the screen lit up with that scandalous video, he almost leapt to his foot.
But someone had gotten to Sarah before he could.
belongs to s
Maybe... the moment he signed those divorce papers, he had already lost the right to protect her.
He stepped outside for air, overwhelmed. That's when his phone rang-from an unknown number.
He hesitated but answered.
"James?" ca familiar voice.
His brows furrowed. "It's you?"
"Yes, it's me. Don't hang up. | know you're just sitting in a corner, drinking alone, even now that you're at the
island. So why not hearout? What I'm about to says about her, Vivian said smoothly s
James's opinion of Vivian couldn't be lower. From everything that had happened, he knew she had been pulling
strings behind the scenes. She had indirectly hurt both Lucy and Charlotte.
"If you have something to say, just spit it out," he said coldly. "But if you're planning to useto sabotage the
event, hang up now. Was that blackout and the video your doing?"
His voice had dropped-low and dangerous.
