Chapter 98 A Slap in the Spotlight
Aubrey’s POV
My father was just unlucky to be tangled up with the Lynn family.
Yes, he was weak but before Aurelia cinto the picture, at least he’d been a decent dad who
cared for
me.
Crack! Hudson crushed another glass in his hand.
“Watch your mouth! Aubrey, do you even know who you're talking to?!”
His glare was so vicious it felt like it could bore straight through me.
“Apologize!” he barked, advancing step by step. “Or the Lynn family pulls our investment right now,
and your pathetic Gamma father can crawl into bankruptcy! You think you can act high and mighty
here? You think you’re skind of princess? You’re nothing but a curse who killed your own
mother! You think clinging to sAlpha will save you? Well guess what - that oh-so-noble Alpha
hasn’t contacted you in five days. He’s already bored. He’s done with you!”
My pupils contracted slightly. So they were watching me.
“You sure do care about my every move,” | said with a cold, silent smile. “Even my Alpha ignoring

dad, desperate for funds and foolish enough to believe in “family,” agreed. He didn’t realize he'd just opened the

Seeing | wouldn't apologize, the Lynn patriarch gave a slow, ominous chuckle.,
“So your wings have hardened. Not only ungrateful now you bite the hand that feeds you. Aurea, go tell Jax we'll
be keeping Aubrey here for a while. She needs to be... reeducated.”
Aurelia nodded eagerly and hurried off.
Now | understood their plan: they wanted to trapin the Lynn estate and tormentuntil | broke.
I sneered and turned to leave without hesitation.
“Stop her!” Hudson roared.
A servant lunged for me, but | twisted away and bolted.
| didn’t stop until | burst into the ballroom.
By now, most of the guests had arrived and were chatting in small groups, waiting for the hosts to formally open
the evening.
| scanned the room quickly - and there she was. Aurelia, in the front-right corner, whispering something to my
father. His face looked troubled.
My expression darkened as | made my way over.

The moment she saw me, Aurelia flashed a sickly sweet smile, “Aubrey! Perfect timing. Your fathers alread
agreed you'll be staying with the Lynn family for a whole month!”
My father’s eyes went wide, then darted around the room anxiously. He tugged at Aurelia’s sleeve, brows
furrowed.
Clearly, he hadn't agreed to anything. Aurelia was just making things up..
She pretended not to notice and stepped toward me, reaching out. “Aubrey, aren't you hap-
Smack!
| slapped her across the face, cutting off her little show.
“Oh, I’m thrilled,” 1 said with a smile. “So thrilled I couldn’t stop my hand!”
Gasps rippled through the ballroom.
“What just happened?” someone whispered. “Who is she? Why did she slap Aurelia?”
“Moon Goddess - she’s an omega! How dare she?!”
I rarely left the house, and | never dressed this flamboyantly, so few people recognized me. All eyes
were now locked onin stunned silence.
Aurelia clutched her face, eyes wide in disbelief. It took her a moment to scream, “You little bitch!
How dare you hit me?!”
“Damn right | hit you.”
I smiled again
then slapped her with my other hand.
This time, she went sprawling onto the floor.
The entire ballroom fell dead silent.
