"Yeah, okay."
Since Aurora had spoken, Craig naturally listened.
The tension between them lingered awkwardly, until Walter crushing over. "Magnolia, you're coming home
with me-now!"
"I don't want to! She just bullies Craig because he's nice! Just because she's the Lopez family's golden girl-big
deal! She got lucky at birth, that doesn't mean she's better than us. Who does she think she is, anyway?"
"At least I'd never fall for a married man." Compared to Magnolia's outburst, Aurora's reply was as cool as ice.
But every word hit home.
"You-!"
Walter's face flushed, clearly embarrassed by his daughter. He quickly waved an apology to Craig and practically
dragged Magnolia away.
Just like that, the fizzled out.
Aurora suddenly felt a strange sense of embarrassment, though she wasn't sure why. She cleared her throat and
fished around in the car for the stuff she'd just bought. “Well, | already got these, so you might as well have
some."

"Oh. Well, just keep them for later, alright? Eat when you feel like it. I'll get going
"Aurora." He stopped her, voice low and a little shaky, those blue eyes fixed on her. "Don't go. Stay with me,
please."
"I know you've already moved on, and I'm the one stuck in the past. That's my fault, not yours. Today... maybe
I'm asking too much, but I just really want you to stay with me, just for today," Craig said, pressing his lips
together. "Just one day. Is that okay?"
How could Aurora say no to that? Besides, after all those years calling Amelie "Mom," she knew, deep down, she
ought to be here for Craig.
"Alright. I'll help you take care of things today."
She didn't say she'd stay by his side, because that just sounded too intimate.
By now, Miles had already left the office for the day and wasn't planning to go back.
He hurried home, and as soon as he stepped in, he found his mom sitting on the living room floor with Elijah,
playing blocks with Felicity.
Felicity looked up, a little surprised to see him. "Back already? Didn't | send you to help Abigail?"

"She's got Craig with her, they'll be fine. I'd just get in the way, so | chome. He walked over, voice gentle.
"How are you feeling? Any more morning sickness?" fo
"I'm fine. If | feel bad, I'll just go lie down. No point worrying at home." "Langston, you're back!"
From the kitchen, Karen and Jeffrey Turner cout, each holding a bow! of fruit salad. Well, to be honest, Karen
was supervising while Jeffrey did all the chopping.
"Mr. Turner, Aunt Karen," Miles greeted, taking the bowl from Jeffrey. "Here, let
me."
Jeffrey grinned, giving Miles a teasing wink. "Better get all those 'Mr. Turners' in while you can. Pretty soon, you
won't be callingthat anymore!"
Miles blinked, then realized what he meant. "You always told my dad you wanted to stealfor your family
whent was a kid. Guess soon enough I'll be calling you 'Dad' for real, huh?"
"Hmph! If I'd known you'd actually run off with my daughter, I'd have shipped Felicity off to boarding school
when she was five-never let you two meet!" Jeffrey huffed, though his eyes were twinkling. "But it's too late for
all that now!*
Everyone burst out laughing.
Elijah, not really understanding but wanting in on the fun, squinted his eyes and giggled along.
Dorothy gently ruffled his hair. "Let's hope your future aunt has a safe delivery, sweetheart, and maybe gives
you a healthy little cousin to play with soon."
