Chapter 1386:
Emmett and his new wife were the last people Elsa wanted to see.
“I'm not sure what's up, but maybe you should check for yourself.”
For a moment, Elsa hesitated. She didn’t want to face Emmett and his new wife, but the idea of them talking
about childcare with Rosanna unsettled her. The thought of her granddaughter being left with a woman who'd
never raised children herself was more than she could stomach.
Determined, Elsa hurried toward Kenny's place. As she neared the front door, voices inside reached her ears.
“Emmett, Shari, I'll be returning to work and training in two months, and | want to discuss taking care of the child
with you,” Rosanna said.
Kenny spoke up. “Honestly, | just don’t feel comfortable leaving my little girl with a nanny. No matter how
qualified, a stranger's still a stranger. Dad, have you thought about retiring yet? Would you consider taking care
of my daughter?”
Elsa could hardly contain her anger after hearing that. How many times had she offered to look after her
granddaughter? She was retired, had all the tin the world, and had made her wishes clear more than once.
Yet, she was refused every time. Now, instead of letting her help, Kenny and Rosanna were thinking about letting
Emmett and his new wife take care of the child?
Her frustration building, Elsa jabbed at the doorbell.
Kenny answered the door.
“Mom,” he said, unease flickering across his face. He cast a nervous glance back, knowing this wasn’t going to
be a peaceful morning. “Weren't you supposed to have a lecture at Shirie University today?”

there. Shari’s youthful outfit made her look far younger than she actually was, and it grated on Elsa’s nerves.

Emmett, too, made an effort to look younger.
Emmett and Elsa didn’t bother to greet each other.
Shari offered a polite greeting. “Elsa, | thought you were teaching at Shirie University now?”
Elsa’s answer cout cold. “I decided not to go. My priority is looking after my granddaughter, and | don’t trust
anyone who isn’t related to her around her.” The meaning in her words was clear. She was talking about Shari.
Shari’s face tightened, though she didn’t say anything more.
