The competition officially began, and Nightshade truly lived up to her title as a champion horse. She galloped as
light as the wind, and Sloane’s bow-and-arrow movements were crisp and decisive; in no time, she had already
brought down several targets.
Jill followed behind Sloane, unable to hold back her admiration. “Sloane, you're amazing! And Nightshade’s so
fast, | almost couldn't keep up!”
Sloane turned back and smiled at her. “Then you'd better step it up; we can’t lose to them.”
Jill nodded vigorously. “I won't lose! Just watch me!”
On the other side, Samson and Benjamin were doing quite well too. Samson might have had a sharp tongue
most days, but his hunting skills were undeniable; he’d already taken down several animals in quick succession.
Benjamin worked alongside him with perfect synergy; the two cooperated seamlessly.

“Benjamin, look over there!” Samson suddenly pointed into the distance, his voice brimming with excitement.
“Looks like a wild hare!”
Benjamin gave a slight nod. “Keep your voice down, you'll scare it off.”
“Relax, | got this,” Samson said confidently.
Meanwhile, Cameron stuck close to Lucas, not getting a single chance to take action. Every the spotted
prey, Lucas would shoot it down the next second.
Resigned, Cameron put away his bow and quietly followed behind to collect the spoils.
Lucas rode with his bow nocked, his motions swift and efficient; every arrow hit its mark.
Just then, Lucas spotted a sika deer. The animal was strong and sleek, its coat gleaming as it foraged in the
grass, completely unaware of the looming danger.
Sloane happened to be nearby as well, but she was a beat slower. She gently tugged the reins, and Nightshade
cto a silent halt.
Lucas loosened his fingers; the arrow sliced through the air, speeding straight toward the deer.
But just as it was about to strike, another arrow suddenly flew in from the side and knocked Lucas’ arrow off
course with perfect precision.

The two arrows collided midair; startled, the sika deer bolted into the forest and disappeared from sight.
Lucas froze for a moment, then frowned and turned toward the direction the other arrow had cfrom.
There, Larry approached slowly on a chestnut-colored horse.
Behind him trailed Whitney and a few others; it seemed they'd cto the hunting grounds as well.
“Mr. Hawthorne, what a coincidence. | didn’t expect to run into you here,” Larry said with a smile, a hint of
provocation in his voice.
Lucas’ expression instantly turned cold. He urged his horse forward and stopped beside Sloane, eyes sharp as he
looked at Larry. “Didn't expect to see you here either, Mr. Larry. What a coincidence indeed.”
“Isn't it, though?” Larry glanced at Sloane, his tone light. “Maybe it’s fate.”
His gaze
settled on Sloane, and his smile softened into something gentler, more sincere. His voice carried an
uncharacteristic warmth. “Sloane, it's been a long time.”
Sloane nodded politely, her tone distant. “Hello, Mr. Larry.”
Larry didn’t seem bothered by her coolness and kept smiling. “Sloane, that black horse looks like a rare breed.
With riding skills like yours, we should really spar sometime.”
Sloane patted Nightshade’s head. “Thanks. Lucas gave her to me.”
At that, Larry's smile stiffened.
Samson and the others arrived shortly after. Seeing Larry and his group, Samson curled his lip and muttered,
“Why do we run into them everywhere?”
Jill cover from the other side, raising her voice. “Mr. Hawthorne, you've caught so much already, first place
is definitely going to you guys!”
