Sloane froze; the alcohol-induced haze vanished in an instant. She could feel the cold, hard press of a gun
against her waist, and Mason's chilling voice whispered in her ear, “Don’t move. Don’t scream. Or | won't mind
sending you off right here and now.”
There was a manic edge to Mason's tone, like he'd completely lost his mind.
He tossed a rope at her and ordered her to tie herself up.
Since he'd stayed hidden the entire tand still had the gun on her, Sloane had no opening to fight back. With
no other option, she did as he said and tied herself up.
Only after he confirmed the knots were secure did Mason finally step into view, laughing like a lunatic. “You
wench. You finally landed in my hands.”

He lunged forward, his disgusting face just inches from hers.
Sloane turned her head in disgust, trying to pull away, but Mason yanked her hair hard, forcing her still. He
raised a hand and slapped her across the face. “You wench, disgusted by me, huh?”
He glared at her with eyes full of venom. “You like Lucas, don’t you? Just wait. I'm gonna cripple him. Let you two
be a perfect little pair of broken losers, hahahaha!”
Sloane spat the blood from her mouth and stared at him coldly. “What the heck do
you
want?”
Mason shoved her to the floor and snatched her phone. His voice turned icy. “You'll find out soon enough.”
He used her phone to call Lucas.
On the other end, Lucas had just returned to his room. The moment he saw Sloane’s non the screen, he
picked up. “Sloane?”
“I told you I'd be back,” cMason's voice, twisted, smug, and full of glee.
Lucas’ heart dropped; his tone turned ice-cold. “Mason? What did you do to Sloane?”
“Wanna find out?” Mason cut him off, voice erratic and unhinged. “She's withnow. If you want her alive,
calone. Got it? Just you. Or else... you know what'll happen.”
Then the call disconnected.

Lucas’ face darkened instantly. He gripped the phone so tightly his knuckles turned white, a wave of terror and
fury crashing through him. Without hesitation, he bolted from the room, sprinting toward Sloane's.
Inside, Mason had tied her to a chair and slapped tape across her mouth.
Sloane tried to struggle, but Mason had reinforced the ropes. She couldn't move at all.
Watching her squirm only made him laugh harder. “Don’t waste your strength. You're both dying tonight!”
He crouched beside her, gripping her chin hard, his voice low and menacing. “You know something? Every day, |
thought about this—about how I'd get back at you both. Lucas threwin prison. And you... you destroyed
everything | had!”
His voice rose with each word, eyes burning with deranged hatred. “Tonight, you're going to feel every ounce of
that pain!”
Just then, the door slammed open-Lucas burst in.
The sight of Sloane tied to that chair hit him like a knife to the chest. His eyes went cold in an instant. “Mason.
Let her go!”
Mason turned and grinned even wider. “That was fast. Guess you really do care about her.”
Lucas’ eyes locked on Sloane. When he saw the handprint on her cheek, his heart twisted in agony, like it was
being cut open.
Forcing down the fury and panic rising in his chest, he said in a low, firm voice, “Mason, if you've got a problem,
take it out on me. Just don’t hurt her.”
