Chapter 1570:
“| already told Hadley the whole story about Linda. | took the blfor everything. She didn’t argue, so | think
she accepted my apology. From now on... don’t mess this up again. Treat her right.”
Eric stayed quiet, choosing not to respond. He placed his phone aside, weighed down by a suffocating heaviness
in his chest. Gratitude toward Ernest swelled inside him.
Still, he wasn’t naive. Ernest’s explanation might have cleared the air, but it didn’t erase the pain Hadley carried.
Minutes passed. A restless edge crept into Eric. Where was Hadley? Why hadn't she returned? He slid off the bed
and made his way to the door. When he opened it, the hallway stood empty. Hadley was nowhere in sight.
Concern etched deeper into his face as he walked briskly toward the nurse's station.
“Hi, sorry. Have you seen my wife?”
“Miss Pearson—oh, | mean, Mrs. Scott? She was here earlier. Said you were going home. But she already left.”
She left?
A rush of panic surged through him. Without another word, Eric turned on his heel and hurried toward the exit,
cold sweat prickling his skin.
“Mr. Scott!” Phillips approached quickly. “Should we head to the office now, or—"
“Hadley. Where is she?” Eric interrupted sharply, his tone edged with frustration. “Weren't you supposed to keep
an eye out? How could you just let her disappear?”

“No need to panic. I'm right here.” There was no need for Phillips to answer. Hadley cinto view, phone in
hand, walking calmly toward them.
“You're here.” Relief flooded his face as Eric stepped forward and embraced her without hesitation.

A quiet breath escaped him. “I really thought you'd leftbehind.”
Hadley didn’t move. Her arms stayed at her sides, offering neither comfort nor resistance.
“I just stepped out to call Mr. Webster and let him know what's going on. But you...” Her eyes lifted, locking onto
Eric's face.
“I told you to stay put, didn’t I? What made you think it was okay to walk around? Were you hoping to end up
passed out again?”
“That was my fault.” Eric bowed his head at once, his tone laced with regret. “It won't happen again.”
With a nervous glance, he searched her face for reassurance. “Just tellyou're not going to walk away from
me... please?”
