“Coming over?” | breathed out, my heart pounding hard against my ribs. Right now, I'd be lying if I claim to not
be shocked out of my mind. | was just settling into the hotel | checked into when | started getting calls from
Zane. The first call | got from him made my heart flutter hard, cause at that moment, | had been thinking of him.
Then | felt irritated causes he literally bailed out on me, so | ignored all his calls till he texted me.
And now, he was apparently coming over.
“B- but why?” | asked, my voice sounding high pitched to my own ears as | sat up even more.
“Do | need to have a reason?” He shot back and | swallowed emptily, my heart pounding against my ribs. It was
at the tip of my tongue to ask him to get lost. When | needed him throughout today at the wedding, he was
nowhere to be found, but now he was callingand saying that he was coming over.
However, after all that | went though today, | wanted a hug so bad. | wanted a lot more than that, but a hug
would do wonders. | might refuse to admit it: | might still be mad at Zane, but | couldn’t deny that | wanted to
see him right now. Just listening to his voice had managed to calm my unsettled thoughts a little.
“Bunny?” He called out and | swallowed emptily as my heart jumped right into my throat, and | had to get to my
feet and start pacing around as | gripped the phone tighter.
“Don’t callthat anymore, we're already done with our pretense, remember?” | mumbled, my voice sounding
weak to my own ears.
He hummed and spoke again. “Where are you? Still on the island?”
| shook my head as | responded. “No, not anymore,”
“So, where are you?”
“In a hotel.” | muttered and he hummed again, the sound making my heart race. | had gotten so used to that
sound that | was so certain I'd recognize it in my dreams.
“Givethe address.”
He didn’t even sound like he was begging a little, it was like an order, and | ended up rattling it off before I could
stop myself.
“I'll be there in a bit.” He said then the call disconnected, and | was left gaping at the phone while my heart
raced hard.
| felt extremely shaken to the core, still unable to believe that call just happened. | had thought that

Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtI'd not get to see him again, and | had cursed him out so much after getting this hotel room. But now, it turns out
he’s already on his way here right now, and my heartbeat picked up once again, while my stomach clenched
tightly with anticipation and excitement.
Why was | feeling excited? I should still be annoyed... and | still am. However I'd just be lying if | acted like |
wasn't looking forward to seeing him one more tbefore we part ways.
When a knock sounded on my hotel door, | exhaled slowly and schooled my expression into a scowl as | pulled
the door open. He was right there in the doorway, in all his sexy glory. The tank top he had on revealed the
sleeves of his tattoos and the material of his top stretched over his pecs, and | had to tear my eyes away from
the insanely hot sight to stare and glanced up at his face.
“Are you gonna letin? Or, are you just gonna undressout here?” He drawled in that familiar, teasing
drawl and my eyes widened as color filled my cheeks at once.
“What? Undressing you?!” | hurled at him as | scowled at him even more.
“You bailed out on me, on today of all days!” | gritted out, my lips pursed in a thin line. When his eyes trail down
my body, | felt my face flup, cause | was claded in a pair of shorts and a top with spaghetti hands.
When his eyes met with mine, he clicked his tongue before speaking. “Something important cup.”
| blanched. “That's it? You aren’t gonna apologize?”
He arched a brow and folded his hands this time. “Why do | have to do that? | didn’t do anything wrong.”
My mouth fell open in disbelief, cause | couldn't believe my ears.
When he still didn’t say anything, | let out a scoff and slammed the door in his face, or tried to- cause he
managed to shove his shoe between the door before it could fully lap.
“Please leave.” | tell him as | got the door open again, funny intending on shoving him away then closing the
door. | realized my mistake when he smoothly stepped pastand walked right into the hotel room.
| was so angry that it felt like | might explode, and on whirling around, | pointed behind me. “Get
out,”
“No.” He crooned as he folded his hands, leaning against a wall and looking so relaxed that it mademore
annoyed, cause | was anything but relaxed right now. My heartbeat was all over the place and my stomach was
clenching tightly since | pulled the door open minutes ago.
| had no choice but to close the door behindto avoid strangers from peering in while walking past, then |
pointed a hand at him.

This time, he shrugged a little. “I’m not even sure. | guess | cto check in on you before moving
off to LA.”
| rolled my eyes. So he didn’t cto apologize.
| pointed behind me. “Well, you've seen me, haven't you? You can leave now then,”
When he pushed off the wall and headed in my direction, | thought he'd actually listen toand was about to
leave, however, that train of thought changed when he stepped right into my personal space. My eyes widened,
my heart flying into my throat as | inched backward till the door was pressed against my back. He closed the
distance between us, his hands settling on the spots by my head.
‘Maybe | don’t wanna leave just yet,” he finally spoke as he stared down atand | swallowed emptily as my
heart pounded away even more.
‘W- why?” | whispered, my voice breaking a little.
nstead of resounding, his fingers tilted my chin up so that | was fully staring at him right now.
How did you do today?” He asked, voice soft, completely catchingoff guard.
swallowed emptily just as he continued. “Was it really bad?”
guess that was what did it, the softness in his voice, and those intense eyes which seemed to see ight into my
soul. That managed to crack the wall | had managed to put over my emotions today and I felt my chest start to
hurt while my eyes start to sting.
| was still determined to not cry, so | cleared my throat and shook my head.
‘No, it- it was okay...” even as | breathed out that lie, | ended up trailing off just as a teardrop rolled down my
face.
Feeling mortified, | tried shoving at his chest and glancing away, but he didn’t budge, while his grip on my chin
only tightened, pinningin place and leavingwith nowhere to hide as | completely broke down.
“C’'mere.” He whispered as he tuggedinto his arms and heldas | sobbed, I clutched him tightly as I cried.
| cried over the fact that | didn’t get to marry Marco today, over the fact that he only sawas good enough to
be a dirty little secret. | cried because knowing that he lovedwas pointless since I'm still unable to be with
him. | cried because | was already regretting why | didn’t just agree to be his dude piece since after all, beggers
can’t be choosers. Then | cried because | was so pathetic and | was fully aware.
By the t| stopped crying, | was wrung out and as boneless as a rubber. When Zane carriedinto the room
and sank into the only couch available, withlaying agsinst his chest, | stiffened.

We weren't putting any act on at this time, so it's pointless forto sit in his laps like this even though it felt
really comfortable.
| tried to wiggle out of his hold, but his grip ontightened.
“What's wrong?”
“I shouldn't sit on your laps, we're no longer in a fake relationship.” | pointed out as | sniffed one
last time.
He scoffed but didn’t loosen his hold, and my heart was pounding even harder at this point.
“Zane?” | called out and tried wiggling out of his hold again.
“Sit still, bunny,”
“Ugh, stop callingthat,” | snapped. | hated that nicknfor a different reason now, cause somehow, | had
gotten used to it in the last few days.
“What should | call you then?”
| was fully aware of his fingers digging into the skin around my waist as he spoke, and | breathed out slowly while
heat filled stomach.
“Addison.” | breathed out.
my
He hummed, and his fingers seemed like they unconsciously slid underneath my hem of my shirt to connect
directly with my skin, and | had to bit back a gasp as a surge of heat pulsed through me.
“You know what | think?”
I swallowed emptily as | shook my head, my eyes locked with his, while my heart pounded away.
“I think we should go to the club.”
