The fancy nursing hhad one-on-one care, a top medical team, and even retired professors ready to help.
It was way more comfortable than home.

“You're being an unfilial son, Dad,” she hissed.
Tobias remained as cool as a cucumber.
“The Domont family’s on the brink of bankruptcy. | can’t keep shelling out for that high-end nursing home. If
you're so darn filial, take her hand look after her yourself.”
Kaia let out a bitter, angry laugh.
“Fine, I'll cover it. Grandma's my responsibility now. You? Stay the hell out of it!”
With those words, Kaia slammed the door behind her, storming out of the office in a fit of rage.

“Mia, who on earth was that? How could she talk to Mr. Domont like that?” one of them whispered, her voice full
of shock.
Mia White just shook her head. “Mind your own business.”
Since Tobias had strictly forbidden them from gossiping, Mia wasn’t about to offer up any information.
Instead, she quietly sent a text to Sally.

Sally glanced at her phone and let out a sneering laugh.
“Kimberly, Kaia’s riled your dad again.”

“Mom, what did she do this time? Why does she always have to cause such a fuss? | was really hoping Dad
would buya new car,” Kimberly grumbled under her breath.
Sally gave her daughter's hand a reassuring pat.
“We'll talk about the car later. Your dad’s in a really bad mood today. Be a good girl. Someday, everything in this
family will be yours.”
Even though Kimberly was clearly reluctant, she still nodded in
agreement.

After a night of heavy boozing, Alden woke up in a strange room.
He sat bolt upright, his heart pounding like a drum.
Luna, wrapped in a comfy housecoat, sauntered gracefully into the room, a bowl cradled in her hand.
“Alden, you got plastered last night, so | had to bring you back to my place. This is a hangover soup | just
whipped up. It'll make you feel a whole lot better.”

Alden’s mind was a bit of a blur. He could vaguely recall hitting the bottle at the Prosperity Hotel before blacking
out,
“Thanks, Luna. Where'd you crash last night?”
Her apartment was a snug one-bedroom, one-living-room affair.
Luna’s cheeks flushed a little. “The bed’s big enough. | was worried you might get sick or something in your
sleep, so | crashed here too. Don’t sweat it, | won't tell Kaia.”
Alden felt a knot of unease in his stomach. “Okay. | gotta head to the office, so I'm outta here.”
After getting dressed, Alden grabbed
his phone and Taso towards

Luna beamed sweetly. “Thanks, Alden.”
Once at the office, Alden was on pins and needles.
He kept fidgeting with his phone, but there were no texts or calls.
A wave of panic washed over him.
