Lucien gave a tiny smile but didn’t bother saying more.

Then he threw in all casual-like, “Just callLucien, I'm not that much older than you anyway.

“I mean, even when you were with Alden, calling‘Mr. Graves’ was way too formal.”

Kaia’s eyes widened a little.

She wanted to tell him that “Mr. Graves” was totally normal, but swallowed it back.

Lucien? Seriously? Isn't he from my dad’s generation?

Now that feels kind of weird.

After what felt like forever, Kaia forced a fight smile and slowly looked up.

Lucien’s eyes were close to hers, dark and endless, like they could see straight through to her soul.

Just when that invisible pressure started choking her, his voice cut through the quiet.

“Take your time. Get comfortable first. You can change later.”

As he spoke, his eyes dropped to her pink lips. His throat bobbed. “Have you eaten?”

“Huh?” Kaia blinked in surprise.

Lucien looked away. “Dinner. Did you eat enough? If not, cgrab a bite with me.”

Now that he mentioned it, she really hadn't eaten much. Her stomach was starting to complain.

“Sure. But it's ontonight.” She smiled.

Lucien leaned back a little. “Alright.”

One red car, one black car. They slipped into the city’s night.

Finally, they pulled up outside Redblossom Restaurant.

Kaia’s gaze dimmed. The last tshe chere was when she first brought up breaking things off with Alden.

Lucien led the way, and Kaia followed half a step behind.

They entered the private room and took their seats.

Being alone with Lucien still made Kaia nervous. She quickly passed him the menu, “Mr. Graves, please go ahead

and order.”

a plate of BBQ ribs.”

He spoke like a regular, and every dish happened to be something Kaia liked.

Kaia looked surprised. “You haven't been back in years. But you still remember their specialties?”

She used to love this local American bistro.

Lucien gave a small smile. “I ate here enough times. It stuck.”

She caught a glimpse of Kaia’s back at the entrance earlier and thought she was seeing things.

Kaia, oddly calm now, shot her a cold look. “What? Looking for another bath?”

Kimberly flinched as if stung, taking a full step back.

Kaia didn’t bother hiding the smirk tugging at her lips.
