“Ms. Lottic, these roses are all withered,” Mabel said, running back with two of the prettiest roses she could find
clutched in her hand.
“Yes, they are,” Charlotte agreed, glancing at the flower bed before turning her attention to Mabel.
“Did you get hurt at all?”

Charlotte smiled. “For me? Don’t you want to keep them?”
Mabel shook her head again. “Pretty flowers are for pretty people. Ms. Lottie, you're the prettiest!”
Her big eyes were full of sincerity as she offered the compliment, and Charlotte felt her heart melt.
“Well then,” Charlotte asked, “who’s prettier,or your mom?”
Mabel thought about this seriously for a moment. “Mommy's first, and Ms. Lottie’s second!”
“But you just said | was the prettiest,” Charlotte teased, pretending to be upset.

Charlotte froze for a moment, gazing at Mabel’s sweet, innocent face. Her words struck a chord deep within her.
“Is this the kind of emotional support a child gives their mother?” she wondered.
At that moment, she truly envied Evie for having such a little angel.
The thought of Julius and the past five years....
Charlotte just gave a bitter, twisted smile and changed the subject. “How about we go put these two flowers in

“Okay!” Mabel agreed.
They returned to the living room, where a maid had prepared the necessary tools.
As Charlotte trimmed the stems, she said, “Have the rose bushes in the garden dug up.”
“But...” the maid hesitated.
“What is it?” Charlotte asked, giving her a puzzled look.
“XMr. Harrison won't allow it,” the maid replied.
Charlotte paused, a flicker of confusion in her eyes. Roses were delicate flowers; without careful tending, they
would die. The

At noon, she prepared a lavish spread, and the two little ones sat with her in the dining room. She served Mabel
food, her eyes filled with tenderness.
Watching this scene, Julius gripped his fork tightly but remained silent.
After the meal, he approached Mabel. “I need to talk to you.”
Mabel, who was watching the small fish in the fish tank, turned her head and glanced at him. “About what?”
“Cwith me.”
Julius turned and walked outside.
Mabel followed him. The two kids arrived at the garden, sdistance from the villa, where no one else

“Humph, that’s because you're Ms. Lottie’s son. If you were srandom kid, | wouldn't have let you off the

“Well, that’s not up to you,” Mabel said nonchalantly. “You're Julius, right? How about we have a fair
competition?”
“What do you mean?”
Mabel’s eyes flickered. “Let's see who can win over Ms. Lottie more. If you win, I'll leave immediately. If | win, |

Julius replied, “My mom already loves me. | won't compete with

“Really?” Mabel looked at him intently. “Does Ms. Lottie really still love you?”
