Sarah was surprised to get a call from Julius, but she happily agreed to his request. “How about we video chat?”
she said with a smile. “That way, | can make sure you're not falling asleep.”
“Okay,” Julius agreed, though he had other plans.
He lay in bed properly, started the video call, and placed the phone beside him before closing his eyes.
He didn’t need Charlotte to tell him stories! Someone else would do it, and he didn’t need her anyway!
Sarah's voice was gentle as she narrated a children’s story, but Julius quickly grew impatient.
What was so interesting about this childish story?
And why was she so insistent on telling it to that little punk?
His good manners kept him from expressing his annoyance directly. Besides, he had already disturbed Sarah's
rest, and he didn’t want to say anything else to upset her.
So he kept his eyes closed, pretending to be asleep.
Sarah glanced up and, seeing him “asleep”, a sly smile curved her lips. She took a screenshot of the video,

He checked the time. An hour had passed. He got out of bed and walked out of his room, pausing to listen at
Mabel’s door. It was
silent.
He pushed the door open and walked in.
The room was dim, and Mabel was fast asleep.
He walked over and shook her awake.
“Huh?”
Mabel groggily opened her eyes and reached for the bedside lamp. When she saw him, her little face scrunched
up. “Hey, what are you doing?”
Julius stood by the bed with a stern expression. The thought of Charlotte leaning against the headboard with
Mabel in her arms, reading her a bedtstory, made him furious.
“You can't sleep,” he said curtly.
Mabel’s eyes widened. “Why? Is this how you treat a guest? I'm a guest, and you won't letsleep? I'm going
to tell Ms. Lottie!”
She had been sleeping soundly, only to be woken up by him. What a nasty kid!
“No wonder Ms. Lottie doesn’t want him anymore!
Hmph, | wouldn't want to be friends with a kid like this, either.
So annoying!”

Julius stopped her, his eyes fixed on her. “What story did she tell you?”
Mabel snorted. “You're so mean! Why should | tell you?”
Julius declared, “You said | was mean so | can tell my dad to kick you out, and she has to listen to him.”
Mabel’s brow furrowed. She stared at him for a moment and
said, “You're such a nasty kid. If | were Ms. Lottie, | wouldn't like you either.”
Julius’ face darkened. “If you say that again, I'll have my kick you out right now.”

Mabel didn’t want to cause trouble for Charlotte. Exasperated, she blurted out, “Snow White, Cinderella, The
Little Mermaid...”
Julius had never heard of these. He frowned and thought for a moment, then suddenly said, “Tell them to me.”
Mabel was on the verge of tears. “You're so annoying! | want to sleep!”
She pulled out her phone. “When Ms. Lottie told them to me, | recorded it. I'll send it to you, just don’t bother me
anymore!”
Julius’ eyes lit up. He immediately took out his phone, received the recording file she sent, and then turned and
left the room.
Mabel rolled around on the bed several times in frustration, then got out of bed, ran to the door, and locked it.
